Artist: Sam Fender

Album: People Watching

Release Date: Feb 21, 2025

Standout tracks: People Watching, TV Dinner, People Watching, Chin Up, Arms Length

Sam Fenders’ third album People Watching is already a timeless piece of art. Immediately bursting at the seams with uplifting melodies, feel-good, and positive vibes.

Fender told Apple Music when announcing People Watching in November 2024. “I wanted to go in there and write good songs; not think about some grandiose overblown message, just 10/11 good songs about ordinary people.”

The message of coming across about ordinary people is striking and often profound. The story telling lyrics are down to earth and playful. Fender sings for everyone in “Something Heavy.”

The opening track “People Watching” combines piano, sax, guitar, retrospective lyrics, reverb heaven, and turns into a symphony of art that sets the tone for the album.

“Remember My Name”, Fender’s final track, showcases his vocal strength and appropriately sounds as if it’s the final tune in a dramatic and beautiful war monologue full of hope and overcoming disaster. Strings and wind instruments galore make up this fantastic track that grows in intensity until the very end. Tracks like “Arms Length” have a retro pop sequence feel, with its fun sing-a-long chorus.

Fender has raw talent is a force to be reckoned with. Every musical element in People Watching is where it should be. Just his 3rd album release and this unique blend and powerful voice add light into one of the best albums so far this year.

Score:  5/5
