Standout tracks: Born Into the Fight, The Fall, Trailing A Wing

Dublin, Irelands post-punk quintet The Murder Capital take a stroll into open waters while keeping their signature dark, intense, and ominous tone on their third album Blindness. The lyrics and musical elements express growth and the band dives into a alternative-indie space. The opening track “Moonshot” still keeps the bands classic heavy drums and throaty vocal delivery fans are use to. Blindness has a slight edge of vulnerability.

The band slows down its melodies for tracks like “Love of Country” with a touch of politicization. The powerful lyrics of “Born Into the Fight” stand as a testament of what makes The Murder Capital intriguing. Different soaring instruments paired with their heavy elements come together to create a unique haunting sound. Although the band isn’t necessarily known for melodic and sing along anthemic choruses, this album doesn’t need them. Their jagged song structures are enough to be fun, edgy, and true to their roots.

The Murder Capital adds another beautiful and successful haunted entry into their catalogue.

Score: 3.5/5
