Albums Were Excited for in 2024

 By Lacey James

Hey, that rhymes….

With a slew of artists and band releasing new music, the next few months are going to be crucial for avid music listeners.

From Sherly Crow, Sonic Youth, Chelsea Wolfe, to Future Islands, Khruangbin, Chastity Belt, Ride, and Idles, the releases to a music junkie are detrimental.

Here is a couple you can look out for:

People Who Aren’t There Anymore – Future Islands

Featuring the very iconic vocals of Samuel T. Herring, Future Islands has already opened several songs from their upcoming album “People Who Aren’t There Anymore” like “The Tower,” “The Fight,” “King of Sweden” and “Deep in the Night.”

With their classical synth pounding lighthearted melodies "People Who Aren’t There Anymore" will be sure to be a fun lift off into the new year.

"People Who Aren't There Anymore" will be released January 26th, on 4AD.

Three Bells - Ty Segall

With the ever so jagged melodies and innovating guitar playing and singing of Ty Segall, songs “My Best Friend,” “Void,” and “My Room” have already been released and are available on streaming sites.

It has only been two years since “Hello, Hi” was released in 2022, but fans are always eager to hear the latest experimental creation of Segall.

Segall already has a tour announced and hits the road on February, 20th beginning the run in San Francisco and ending in Europe.

“Three Bells” will be released on January, 21st, on Drag City.

Hole in My Head – Laura Jane Grace

Punk Pioneer Laura Jane Grace continues to do what she does best. After many years with Against Me!, Grace has continued to release music solo and seems to always be determined to go against the grain.

With her angsty and beautiful vocals, poetic vocals, Grace has already released the songs “Cuffing Season” and “Hole in My Head.”

"Hole in My Head" will be released February 16th, on Polyvinyl Record Co.

TANGK – IDLES

Buckle your seat belts cause IDLES are back.

This time with a whole album dedicated to love.

With songs like “Gift Horse,” “Dancer,” and “Grace” already being released, their approach is familiar yet exciting to new and old fans.

Three years after “CRAWLER,” IDLES continues to push the boundaries of their musical limits. With their blunt and elegant lyrics, lead singer Joe Talbot expresses his soft sultry chops in “Grace.”

IDLES hit the road February, 29th starting in Porto, Portugal.

TANGK is available February 16th on Partisan Records.

Bleachers – Bleachers

Alternative synth pop rock band Bleachers are not shy about incorporating every tool in their belt to produce a wide array of playful sounds.

Bleachers has already released the fun, saxophone dance tune “Modern Girl” and continues to surprise audiences with their range.

“Alma Mater” featuring the indistinguishable guest vocals of Lana Del Rey is out now.

A slow dive into the realm of magical blending with Rey’s vocals and Bleachers lead vocalist Jack Antonoff.

Bleachers will be released March 8th on Dirty Hit.
