Bands That Broke Up in 2024 So Far

If you feel like a lot you’ve noticed a lot of your favorite bands are disbanding, you’re not alone.


Here are bands who have broken up in 2024 thus far:



While not officially a “break up,” iconic punk band and supergroup OFF! Played three farewell shows at the Belasco in Los Angeles, CA in July of 2024. The band was gearing up for their feature film titled Fre LSD and used their shows to promote it.



2. The Regrettes

After almost a decade together, The regrettes decided to part ways to work on other projects.


Although not officially in 2023, the 60s doo wop rockers disbanded and played their last show on December 21, 2023 at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, Ca. The band stated that the decision was mutual and wrote a farewell message via their Instagram.


“If you’re reading this or you’ve been to a show or bought a record, you’ve given us all some of the best years of our lives. After all these amazing years together, we are parting ways to focus on other projects. There is absolutely nothing but love in our hearts for each other and you all & we’re eternally grateful.”


3. You Me at Six

January 31 marks the day that You Me at Six announced their break up via their Instagram.


The band revealed that they will disband after a farewell world tour in 2025, coinciding with their 20th anniversary as a band. The announcement was made on January 31, 2024, and frontman Josh Franceschi expressed that while it was a bittersweet decision, it felt like the right time to conclude their journey.


The band posted this message via their Instagram account along with dates of their 2024 and 2025 tour.


“2005-2025.

 

This is the end.

 

Thank you for being the heartbeat of this band.

Final live shows taking place 2024/2025.”

 

4. Anti-flag

Anti-Flag, the American punk band, abruptly disbanded in July 2023. The breakup came shortly after sexual misconduct allegations surfaced against their lead singer, Justin Sane. The band made the announcement without much prior warning, and fans were left shocked. The allegations were detailed in a podcast interview, which led to their swift dissolution.


Their disbandment marked the end of a career spanning more than three decades, during which they were known for their politically charged lyrics and activism.



5. Screaming Females


Screaming Females, the influential punk band from New Jersey, announced their breakup in late 2023 after 18 years together. Known for their DIY ethos and raw, guitar-driven sound, they released eight studio albums, including their final one, Desire Pathway, in February 2023.


The band emphasized their pride in maintaining creative independence throughout their career, managing their own shows and merchandise while building a loyal fanbase. Their decision to split marks the end of a significant era in the punk community.
