"Pushing Up Daisies” is a celebration for the retrospect of the inevitable nature of life. The Academics are an indie rock band hailing from Ireland. On the newest album release, Sitting Pretty,, is the lead single and blends punchy, soft, and raw elements together into a melodic and contrived way. “Pushing Up Daisies” gives off all the retro vibes as The Academics create a modern, bright, and bouncy tune. Lead singer Craig Fitzgerald sings the verses as short and choppy lines of power and blends his voice seamlessly into the chorus that plays on the popular phrase that relates to the daisies over one’s own grave.

The guitar riff is electric and just enough grit to add a raw element to the playful track. “Pushing Up Daisies” includes a mellow breakdown that incorporates 50’s doo-wop style backing vocals. The track proves their knack for writing catchy feel-good jams with moody content. The Academics are currently the European leg of their Sitting Pretty Tour and are set to travel to North America starting April, 9th in Toronto, Canada.
